LOS ANGELES -— Comedian and cannabis enthusiast Doug Benson took a surprise intermission during an online presentation of his stand-up show “The Benson Interruption” yesterday, in which comedians perform sets while Benson interjects and talks over their jokes, to take a quick smoke break. “Right after I started, he just said, ‘Hold on everybody, I forgot to go get high,’ and just moved slightly off camera,” said stand-up Andy Taliardi via Zoom. “I thought he was joking until I heard the lighter and saw the cloud waft in front of the camera. I’m like, did he forget he wasn’t at a club? Did he forget he’s already high, and he’s at home, so he doesn’t have to get high or go anywhere? I just sat there confused for my entire set — I didn’t even tell one joke.” Benson returned a minute later, saying, “Great stuff, Andy, see you next time,” and giggled as he introduced the next act.
