DENVER, COLORADO — Sam Carter, customer at Evergreen Dispensary, attempted to pay for cannabis by bartering with more cannabis.
“Weed has value, therefore it is essentially a monetary system, ergo, it’s only logical I should be able to purchase their weed using my weed,” Carter began explaining. “This is economics 101 people, come on. I mean, you know the US dollar is not backed by anything tangible, it only has value because we assign it said value, thusly, this weed is actually MORE valuable than money and should be accepted as such.”
The budtender refusing to barter was confused by the request, inquiring why Carter doesn’t just smoke the weed he already has.
“Not only is he bartering with the same product, he bought that product from this very dispensary like an hour ago,” budtender Alex Danning stated. “I literally got it from the same batch as the cannabis he’s bartering for… though I marked it down because it’s second-hand, so I guess I should take the deal? This all feels very wrong.”
Once Danning agreed to the bartering deal, Carter revealed he actually already smoked the weed he was going to barter with, stating, “Oops, never mind,” then leaving.
